Tipapat Attathom • D.D.S., M.Sc.

Dr. Attathom is a graduate of Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, and holds a Certificate in Operative Dentistry from the same university. She later complemented her training with a master’s degree and Certificate in Operative Dentistry at the University of Iowa, USA. She is a Board-Certified member of the American Academy of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Attathom is a full-time teacher at Chulalongkorn University and maintains a private practice oriented toward restorative dentistry. She has also been appointed by the Université de Montréal as a visiting professor. Dr. Attathom lectures internationally on dentin hypersensitivity, bonding, composite restorations, and microdentistry.



PROGRAMME DE COURS

Objectives

1/ Implement GI and RMGI as one of your materials of choice for tooth-coloured restorations in your practice.

2/ Know the applications of glass ionomers as a base, block-out material, or as a temporary or permanent restoration.

3/ Understand the differences between glass ionomer cements and resin cements.

4/ Understand the properties of the material and how to work with it to get optimal results.

5/ Gain confidence with GI and RMGI, which can provide a great variety of uses.



DESCRIPTION DU COURS

Course Program

1/ Understand the acid-base reaction mechanism in the material.

2/  Fluoride uptake and release in glass ionomers.

3/  Indication of use:

   - As a sealant ;

   - As a material for temporary fillings ;

   - As a restorative material ;

   - As a cement for indirect restorations.

4/ Manipulation and technique for successful GI restorations, focusing on:

   - Caries-control cases ;

   - Class V restorations ;

   - Polishing and maintenance.
